The word inerrancy in our day and age has become a very explosive and controversial term. Some who believe in inerrancy now refuse to use the term because of the current connotations of the word. Dr. Belcher in the present work unashamedly uses endorses the term. But more than that, he shows that inerrancy is the view of the Old Testament, of Christ, of the apostles, and of the Church through the Reformation period. Continuing the historical survey he shows that the dichotomy between the revealed Word of God and the written Word of God, prevalent in our day, which leaves the written Word as an inferior errant Word, is to be traced to modern times, particularly Karl Barth. This work should be helpful to pastors and laymen who are seeking to understand more clearly the inerrancy battle of our day.
